This is not a high end instrument. It may be a perfectly decent guitar but it has no real collectable value. An Alvarez Yairi of course would be worth a lot more. I did a quick Google search and could not find any website to help date this production guitar. Even the Alvarez website only explains Yairi dating.Does the label tell the country of origin? If it were made in Japan it would be more valuable than the more recent ones which are of Korean origin.

Best thing to do is see if you can find anything on ebay. Use advance search to look at completed auctions. Or plug it into Google to find how much stores are asking for this model. You an also go to a guitar store and ask them to look it up in their Blue Book.Gbase is also a good tool to use, although this particular model did not come up.

Although the tables below are as accurate as possible, serial numbers of these acoustic guitars have never been archived and are of no assistance when attempting to date these instruments. The information contained in this guide was culled from our archives of Fender price lists and catalogs, beginning with 1968.

Its a mystery. You know the model number and seriel number so the manufacture date of this instrument can be determined. There are some threads on the Alvarez message board, but they are not always answered.

The thread below from the Alvarez message board does contain some good replies. Read through it but you may have to end up calling St. Louis Music (I think Tom was the contact mentioned). Also put some effort into searching through the rest of the Vintage section of the Alv. Message board, page by page. It can be tedious but you may find your answer there. If you have a decent local guitar store they may be able to look this up for you.

I have the 5220ceq acoustic electric Alvarez and am trying to figure out what size saddle I need to replace it. Does any one know where I can find this information? I've been looking everywhere to find it.Take out the existing saddle and measure it. They're generally roughly standard but there's also a fair amount of variation between brands, models, etc. Most music stores have saddles in various sizes and materials, such as plastic, TUSQ, and bone.

If you're handy, you can buy a saddle 'blank' and make your own.
