Ffxiv Preferred Server
Sort-of new to FFXIV but a long time Rper just looking for a great Rp Experience on By Khalja Posted 2 hours ago. PvE Static Recruitment! By Lutra Posted 18 hours ago. Final-fantasy-xiv Centurio Hunts offers resources for all NA and EU data centers with automatic callouts for A and S rank spawns, achievement fates, and an active community engaged in making the hunt train as efficient and friendly as possible. Step 2: Log into the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station. Log into the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station (with the Square Enix account containing characters you wish to be transferred. The status of your service account and available characters can be confirmed on the Your Account page.
The plan for the servers in FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is to have servers that can host a maximum of 5000 simultaneous connections. Unlike in 1.0 the servers will be recommended for specific regions, this means the days of playing with both Americans and Japanese are likely to be over. It will still be possible to join a server recommended for a different region however it is unlikely that people will do so, after all people want the most people online in their timezone as possible. The servers will be housed in two data centers; one located in Japan and one located in North America. It is thought that the NA data center is located in the Canadian city of Montreal however this has not been confirmed.
European players are recommended to use the NA data center but within this data center there are some servers recommended for EU players. There is also another important point regarding servers. New servers will be created where only newly created characters can play. This means people will be unable to transfer characters created in FFXIV 1.0 to these servers until Square Enix decides otherwise. This has been done for those who fear starting on servers with already established economies where players may have millions of gil.New WorldsThe server structure for new characters only is below. Originally FFXIV launched with 17 worlds; which was reduced to 10 after a poor launch forced server merges. The original servers were named after towns featured in the first 13 games of the Final Fantasy series. The details of this server merge is below. This server was labelled as being recommended for players who were in European timezones.
However not every EU player chose to transfer to this world, many were still attached to their original. The following comments are from our legacy commenting system.Sep 20, 2013 - 16:20:04 Location: Nowhere, In a BoxWhat about transferring from one newly created server to another?
My brothers and I are playing where we first started on a newer JA server, Ramuh (we couldn't get on any NA server at the time due to one of many character restrictions), and we now want to get onto an NA server (Leviathan) where my friend is at, but rather than starting over from scratch, we were wanting to transfer servers. Anything on this?Jul 01, 2013 - 22:08:18 Location: Durham, United KingdomLegacy players can create new characters on new servers but can't transfer their characters to new servers.
The source would be the world transfers that are happening right now. I am legacy myself and I can only select the servers listed above as legacy.Jun 15, 2013 - 00:56:36 Location: Nowhere, In a BoxWhere is the source of this article? I have friends who don't believe me when I say that Legacy players can only roll on Legacy servers, but I cannot find ANYTHING official stating this.Jun 09, 2013 - 22:23:52 Location: Durham, United KingdomYeah the idea was good in theory however, but not in practice. The biggest problem however was the latency when accessing the JP servers from NA and EU. They have changed this with ARR (just updated this page with the new info) but it seems EU players will still be connecting to servers far away.
Being in the UK I have a good enough ping to Montreal which is where the data center is thought to be so I can't complain.Jun 01, 2010 - 21:43:06 Location: Nowhere, In a BoxIn my opinion on of the big mistakes they made on Final Fantasy XI was not having the servers Region specific and having Japanese players play together with American players, I love playing with Japanese players but most of them just won’t play with us and that will cut the number of players we will be able to play with and find it harder to find a group.
One thing that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has to contend with that other MMORPGs don't is the fact that there are essentially two player types. You have the people who played the original game, and the people who will be trying out FFXIV for the first time.
What makes these two groups so different is that the classic players, referred to as legacy players (not to be confused with Legacy status), get to import their characters, progression, equipment and gil (in-game currency) to the new game. To help level the playing field, legacy players can only import 10 percent of their gil, but all NPC-sold items are also reduced to 10 percent to equalize the in-game economy. While legacy players have the option to start over with a new player, Square Enix created a few restrictions to level the playing field. To allow new players to catch up and not jump into a game with a preset economy, there are legacy servers and normal (non-legacy) servers. Any legacy player wishing to use their existing character, is restricted to playing on legacy servers. A new player can start on a legacy server, and a legacy player can create a new character on a normal server, but a legacy character cannot be played on a non-legacy server. The legacy servers in the US are Balmung, Excalibur, Hyperion and Sargatanas. The European legacy server has been designated as Ragnarok, and the Japanese legacy servers are Aegis, Durandal, Gungnir, Masamune and Ridill. Every other server is a non-legacy server.
In addition, while you can play on any server from any region, the regional designation represents the lowest ping to the server. So if you're playing from the US, but want a lot of Japanese players to party with, you can still play on a Japanese server, but you may experience a bit more latency. Now that you've decided if you want to be on a legacy or non-legacy server, and which region you'll be choosing, it's time to get to the important stuff.
Where will some of the more popular online communities be playing? Now you may be thinking, 'Why would I care where various online communities are playing?' Have you ever played an MMORPG on a server that was overrun with people role playing?
They embody the character races and speak (type) as though they were that race. It's a fun and entertaining experience for some, but it may not be for everyone. The role-playing community has chosen Balmung (legacy) and Gilgamesh (non-legacy) as their unofficial serves in FFXIV.In addition, Giglamesh is the Reddit server of choice. If you'd like to be able to adventure with your fellow Redditors, Giglamesh is the place to be. You can discuss your adventures on the FFXIV sub-reddit and have an offline experience when you're not playing. The same can be said for one of the largest online gaming forums, NeoGAF.
The community there will be playing on Sargatanas (legacy) and Ultros (non-legacy). NeoGAF players are generally very helpful, and many of the legacy players will be creating new characters on Ultros, so they'll have plenty of experience to fall back on.When it comes down to it, the server you pick in an MMO won't have a huge impact on your enjoyment of the game. If you want the least amount of latency, select a server in your region.
Ffxiv Preferred Servers
If you don't want to deal with an existing economy, don't pick a legacy server. If you aren't sure you can handle hearing people role-play, don't pick one of the role-playing servers. If you're not a fan of Reddit, avoid the Reddit server of choice. With those decisions out of the way, there isn't much more to concern yourself with in regards to server choice. If you end up not enjoying the server you're on, or you have friends on another server, after roughly six months Square Enix is allowing people to change servers.

There will be a small fee involved, and if a server is overcrowded you may not be able to transfer there, but otherwise all transfers will be approved. After six months, the pre-existing economies of legacy servers shouldn't be all that different from the non-legacy servers, so you won't have much to worry about.
